The Silk Road

The Scottish Home is hosting "The Silk Road" presented by the Chicago Art Institute on Wednesday, February 8th at 2:00pm in Heritage Hall. Join us as we learn about early Asian trade routes and the merchant and monks who traveled them. We'll accompany the monks admiring their Buddhas, Bodhisattavas and Thangkas, or scroll paintings. We'll travel to China with its unique procelain. Japan will unfold silk screens and woodblock prints. Korean celadon stoneware and folk paintings will give us an insight into this Asian culture.
