Amenities Senior Living in North Riverside
Convenient Location & Beautiful Setting
Nestled in the woods of North Riverside, approximately ten miles from Chicago, The Scottish Home Campus offers a quiet, relaxed setting that is convenient to those living in both the city and the suburbs.
Majestic trees, scenic walking paths and beautiful gardens make The Scottish Home a wonder to behold. And when you step inside our Home, you won’t be disappointed. From its warm mahogany woodwork to its colorful tartan rugs, The Scottish Home makes all who enter its doors feel welcome.
The Caledonian House isn’t your average memory care facility. It’s not an institution with long, daunting corridors. It’s truly a home where residents feel valued, loved, and purposeful. Each of the Caledonian House’s two floors is home to ten residents, all with private bedrooms and full bathrooms, all opening onto a great room where activities take place by the fire side and an open kitchen fills the home with aromas of home cooking.
Quality, enjoyable food is extremely important to well-being. At The Scottish Home, we offer a variety of options to suit every taste. Our residents enjoy fine dining in three separate areas, with an additional private dining room available for residents to invite family and loved ones for special occasions. Choice of fresh and nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner items are prepared daily, with snacks available around the clock. Meals are served buffet style in a non-institutional atmosphere with a wait staff on hand to assist. The Scottish Home is known for its dedicated Food Service staff and the pleasure these meals give to our residents, families, and staff.
Activities & Entertainment
We offer a variety of activities to our residents, both on our campus and in the community, with guided tours to various social and cultural events. What’s more, residents enjoy the lasting friendships they form with their new neighbors.

At the Scottish Home, we support the community we have been a part of for over 100 years. We offer many events on campus that showcase the history of our Scottish culture. In addition, we provide education and social opportunities for the residents and professionals of the area.
We take pride in being stewards of the land we occupy by beautifying the grounds and using them for events. As we began construction on the Caledonian House, we committed to have our Oak trees repurposed into the dining room tables in each Home, a bench in the entrance foyer, and mailboxes for residents outside their rooms, evident now in our Homes.
Blog & News
The Scottish Home is featuring a blog, which will be filled with information for residents, their families, and members of the community. We also plan to include information regarding upcoming and past events, advice for families of residents when it comes to finances, and tips for helping elderly patients transition to assisted living. Our staff, who are knowledgeable about all areas of care we offer at our facilities, will be maintaining this upcoming blog. Click here to view our blog.
